As a key member of our management team, the Director, Volunteer Engagement will lead the Volunteer Department, including developing operational policy and handling management issues impacting volunteers. Integral to the success of this incumbent will be the relationships developed and maintained between the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) departments. In addition, the incumbent will be working collaboratively to develop and execute a vision for the sustainable support of our volunteers, including cultivation, technology, acknowledgment, and evaluation of volunteer engagement outcomes.
The Director, to whom our Volunteer Engagement employees report, will bear overall responsibility for the strategic vision and operation of all volunteer and Association related activities, ensuring that plans are implemented in consideration of overall Health Centre strategic goals and priorities. In addition, the Director will be the face of volunteerism at the NBRHC, cultivating high-level relationships with community leaders and creating partnerships that secure human and financial capital.
The ideal candidate will be an organized individual with excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills. Qualifications include Certification as a Volunteer Manager (PAVRO, CAVR); Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; previous experience in organizational change, health care, project management and supervising and managing others; minimum of 3-5 years experience working with volunteers at a Director level or above; 3-5 years experience directly supervising employees; recent experience as a volunteer (need to be health related); proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word, and in social networking (including Facebook and Twitter); willingness and ability to travel 4-8 weeks per year (primarily within Ontario); Valid Driver’s license and good driving record required. The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds as well as the ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in our organizations is required. Good work record and attendance and a Criminal Reference Verification are required.
Note: A Criminal Reference Verification (recent as of two months) will be required for all external hires as a pre-condition of employment. Current NBGH employees are exempt.
An equivalent combination of skills, education and experience will be considered. Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset. |
