Child & Adolescent Outpatient Services

Program Overview

The Child & Adolescent Outpatient Services offer specialized, interdisciplinary psychiatric assessment, consultation, and intervention, through office visits and telemedicine. The service is intended to provide specialized supports to primary physicians and children's mental health professionals and supports to secondary care district psychiatrists and pediatricians. Medication reviews for primary and secondary care physicians, cognitive and behavioral therapies in support of children's mental health and family assessments and treatments are provided for children and adolescents presenting with known or suspected serious mental illness (e.g., Bipolar Disorder, Psychosis, Depression, severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), complex comorbid problems, or rare disorders through office visits and outreach technology including videoconferencing, internet, and telephone.

Occasionally, the Ruth MacMillan Centre day treatment program is made available to Outpatients who are close enough to access the program and benefit from school based day treatment aimed at facilitating transitions to home schools.
