Volunteers at the Northeast Mental Health Centre can help out in the following ways:
Friendly Visiting
To provide meaningful support and access to activities for the patients that focus on offering companionship in order to minimize isolation.
Recreation
Helping staff with group activities for patients such as crafts, bingo, outings, music, gardening, and physical activity.
Patient Clothing Room
To help patients build a good self-image by providing appropriate clothing in a friendly, courteous manner.
Patient Library
To provide services that will allow patients to borrow books from the patient library and/or to read those materials that are not allowed to leave the book room. To monitor patient uses of computers and the music listening centre.
Library Cart
To provide a service to the clients by going onto specific wards and gathering books that have not been returned and bringing them back to the patient library.
Native Services
To assist Native patients within the organization. To assist with Native activities in and out of the facility.
Chaplaincy
To help enhance the well being of our patients by providing spiritual care and personal presence across our organization.
Volunteen Program
To assist staff in providing services to geriatric and long-term rehabilitation patients that will enhance the patients' physical and emotional comfort.
Fundraising
To assist the Volunteer Association in fundraising activities that support client centered projects.
Health Promoting
To aid health services in teaching and showing visitors, staff and patients that enter the facility how to properly practice hand hygiene.
Special Projects
To assist with special projects that fall outside of the typical clinical and administration staff activities.
Community Outreach
To assist out-patients within the community to do recreational or other activities.
